We started our journey in Oman in the 70’s and although we have not been here all of the time since then the love for Oman has never waivered.
Sununu Muscat is a relocation and lifestyle management company. We guide and support people to settle in this beautiful country with ease as well as help in making it home. This can include orientation, home search, school search, settling in, shopping, local and cultural induction as well as interior decoration from painting designs on walls to full design and furnishing a property. And that is where Annie Sloan Interiors comes in.
– Key milestones and achievements
Having been avid recyclers and creators, it seemed obvious to introduce Annie Sloan’s amazing paint and products to Oman. For one thing, it does what it says on the tin and can be used on so many things to upcycle or repurpose pieces or furniture or change the vibe of a room.
Shortly after introducing Annie Sloan to the market, we decided to run classes to show people how to use the paints, their various uses and applications and encourage people to let their imagination soar. Many have never picked up a paintbrush and many have learnt that Annie Sloan’s method is so easy and very forgiving.
In addition to the workshops, we show people how to create signs, make footstools, run tutorials for children and their parents, creating hand printed paper, decorations and much more.
– The impact of Sununu Muscat on the industry and the local community
For many it has been life changing, as paying someone else to paint was the norm. Not only is the paint non-toxic, it can be painted on just about anything, it is relaxing and many husbands give us a thumbs up as they say their wife is so happy when painting and of course saving them money when an old piece of furniture is given a new lease of life. We always say Annie Sloan paint is happy paint.
– How it has fostered a passion for work among your employees
Because it is so easy to use and any mistake can be easily rectified, members of the team love having a go. One painted their grandmother’s hat to great effect, another painted the most amazing multi-coloured Omani door, another loves transforming a room by adding a dado rail or stencilling a painting which becomes unique. We have had some budding ‘Jackson Pollock’s over the years.
We provide a creative hub and people often drop in to see us for advice, check paint colours or buy things that have been made or created locally and we support up-and-coming Omani crafters and artists.
