KIDS ENTERTAINMENT — MORE THAN JUST FUN

In today’s digital world, it is becoming increasingly common to see children glued to mobile phones, tablets and other screens. Sometimes it is their own device; at other times, it is a phone handed to them by parents simply to keep them occupied. While technology certainly has its benefits, the concern arises when screen time becomes excessive and children are exposed to content without proper supervision.

Childhood is a precious and formative stage of life. It is the time when young minds develop habits, discover interests, build confidence and lay the foundation for their future health, education and careers. As parents, siblings and mentors, we have an important role to play in ensuring that this valuable time is not lost scrolling endlessly through social media or watching content that adds little value to their development.

This does not mean that children should be completely isolated from technology. Rather, it is about creating the right balance and teaching them that there is a world beyond the screen.

Encouraging children to spend their free time on hobbies and extracurricular activities can make a remarkable difference. Whether it is sports, music, swimming, tennis, painting, drawing, dancing or other creative activities, children can discover talents and interests that may stay with them throughout their lives.

A hobby can sometimes become much more than a hobby. A child who develops a passion for sport may one day become an athlete. A love for music can lead to a career as a musician. An interest in art can develop into a profession as an artist or designer. More importantly, these activities teach children valuable life lessons — discipline, patience, teamwork, commitment, perseverance and the courage to work hard, face challenges and strive to succeed.

These are qualities that no social media platform can teach in quite the same way.

As parents, we should therefore encourage our children to put down the phone and pick up a racket, a paintbrush, a musical instrument or simply join their friends for an active game. Let them explore, make mistakes, learn, compete and enjoy themselves. These experiences help build character and create memories that can last a lifetime.

At MUMAYIZAT, we believe that entertainment can also be meaningful. Through our participating partners, members can enjoy attractive discounts on a variety of activities for children and families, including indoor play zones, tennis classes, swimming and much more.

So, the next time your child asks for the phone, perhaps ask a different question:

“What would you like to do today?”

Let’s give our children the opportunity to discover the world beyond the screen — because sometimes, the best entertainment is the one that helps them grow.
